The Akhal Teke horses from Ópusztaszer performed successfully at the European Championship!

From July 12 to 14, 2024, an Akhal Teke breeding survey was held in Bábolna. Due to COVID, this was the first European Championship in Hungary and Europe in a long time. Horses from Hungarian breeders, as well as breeders from the Czech Republic and Switzerland, participated, and even some overseas visitors attended the event.

The horses from the Ópusztaszer Akhal Stud performed remarkably well, not only in the breeding survey but also in the Akhal Teke bloodline category. The golden pale Kincső (Stardust x Karamella) secured second place, and Kara-2, a black horse from the Kir Sakar line, took third place. In the purebred category, Kartal, a bay gelding, achieved second place in his category. The first place in the Akhal Teke bloodline category was won by Arwen, owned by Mihály Arany. Arwen’s dam, Kréta, a blue-eyed cremello mare, and sire, Jáspis, a dark palomino stallion, were both born at the Ópusztaszer Akhal Stud.

On Sunday, after the free jumping and movement evaluation, a dressage competition was held, where riders showcased their training skills. Among the mixed nationality participants, Zsófi Apáti with Kincső from the Ópusztaszer Akhal Stud won first place in the competition. Regő Cseppentő, also from the same stud, secured 6th place with his horse Kara-2. Another team member, Kata Bönde, performed well throughout the weekend with the spirited Kartal, who participated in a dressage competition for the first time.

Thus, the breeding inspection concluded successfully for the team, with three cups and prize ribbons brought home.
