Debut in the CCI1*…

From May 23 to 25, 2025, the first eventing competition of the year was held in Kaposvár, featuring CCI and CCN classes. Réka Futó-Cseppentő competed in the CCI1* category riding Arabeszk, while Regő Cseppentő tested his skills in the A0 category with his horse, Atlasz.

On the first day, participants were greeted with nearly continuous rainfall, making for a gloomy atmosphere during the dressage phase. Despite the challenging weather, the judges were treated to some truly impressive performances. The competition proved especially memorable for Réka: she began with an excellent dressage test and, among a strong international field—including riders from Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and Germany—she achieved the third-best score among the Hungarian competitors, placing her ninth overall after the first day.

For Regő and Atlasz, this event marked their debut in eventing. They completed their dressage test calmly and gracefully.

On cross-country day, the rain fortunately came to an end, and the competition continued in pleasantly overcast, slightly sunny, and dry weather conditions. The course featured some exciting challenges, with obstacle 15 proving to be a particularly demanding test. Just before the 15th obstacle, riders had to jump up onto a bank, then down from it, followed by a bold gallop into a shaded forest section, where a water crossing awaited. Afterward, they had to charge up a hill and leap over a large rolltop jump with a blind landing — it felt as if they were jumping into the unknown. Arabeszk, however, handled the challenges with remarkable composure and fighting spirit, showing the true mentality of an Akhal-Teke. The pair intentionally accepted a minor time penalty to conserve the horse’s energy for the more complex final section of the course. According to Réka, this was also part of a strategy to ensure Arabeszk would enjoy the experience at this higher level of competition.

For Regő and Atlasz, the cross-country course presented a particularly tough challenge: the shaded, watery section, which caused difficulties for many riders and led to nearly half of the A0 category being eliminated due to refusals. Though they hesitated for a moment, Regő and Atlasz pushed on with courage and determination, successfully completing the course.

The day then continued — and the three-day event concluded — with the show jumping round. After the cross-country phase, Réka and Arabeszk had dropped from 9th to 13th place, but with a strong performance in the final day’s show jumping, they climbed back up one position to finish in 12th place — an excellent result for their first international CCI1* competition.

Regő and Atlasz delivered a flawless, beautiful round in the show jumping phase on the third day, securing 5th place overall — an outstanding achievement for their first major eventing competition.
