Zetár was born in our stud in April 2019. As a foal, he received basic drills and care, including hoof trimming, picking up his feet, leading, and deworming and go up to the trailer.
When he reached training age, during his during his regular training sessions he was gradually exposed to various objects in his environment to increase his stimulus threshold. As part of his training, he participated in one- to two-hour cross-country rides and learned to perform various exercises in the pen. He also served multiple times as a lead horse during one-day cattle driving and longer riding tours. One of the physical milestones of his training was completing a one-week tour, which he successfully accomplished, covering 20 kilometres per day for five days.
Zetár at his first dressage competition:
Zetár participated in his first competition in April 2024 at a dressage event in Szentes, where, despite his young age, he performed excellently. He remained calm, endures transportation well, and boarded the trailer quickly. That same year, he competed in his first show jumping event in Hódmezővásárhely, where he finished in 5th place. Following this, he continued training in both show jumping and dressage. Among others, he trained with Csaba Szokola, one of Hungary’s most successful dressage riders. Prior to his first eventing competition, he participated in show jumping training and also competed in a jumping event in Kecskemét, then ridden by Regő Cseppentő.
Later, between October 18 and 20 2024, he took part in his first three-day eventing competition in Bábolna. He performed particularly well in dressage and maintained excellent physical condition throughout the event, completing a faultless cross-country course.

Cross-country:
On June 7, 2025, the CDN-B dressage competition was held in Mórahalom, where Zsófia Apáti and Zetár competed in two classes: A3 and A4. The dressage warm-up took place in an indoor arena, followed by the competition itself, which was held outdoors. During the A3 and A4 tests, Zetár responded willingly to his rider’s subtle aids. As a result, they achieved scores of over 60% in both classes. This 6-year-old gelding, sired by Stardust, remained calm and consistent throughout the day—both during transport and the competition.
At the CDN-A/B dressage competition held in Szentes on 21 June 2025, our riders once again competed in two events. Zsófia Apáti rode Zetár. The intense heat on the day of the competition didn’t hinder the performance of the pairs. Zetár paid close attention to the rider’s aids and executed the tasks in a balanced manner. The pair competed in the A3 program first, which was closely followed by the A5 program. They had only a 10-minute break between the two programs, as they were the first to enter the arena in the A5 program. The tight schedule didn’t affect their performance; both tests received scores above 60% from the judges. The A5 test went particularly well, marking the pair’s first qualifying result. 🙂
Zetar as a muscled up horse
On July 20, 2025, a CDN-A/B dressage competition was once again held in Szentes. Zetár, sired by Stardust, competed with his rider Zsófia Apáti on this day. The rider entered two category during the event, with one of her main goals being to achieve successful qualification. Despite the extreme heat, the pair’s performance was not hindered. Zetár remained attentive to his rider’s aids throughout the day and performed the tasks in a balanced and consistent manner. The competition started with the A2, followed by the A3 program. The A2 program included, among other elements, a simple change of lead through trot, which the pair executed successfully. Zsófia and Zetár earned an impressive 3rd place in the A2. This was followed by the A3, which went so well that the judges awarded them a score of 66% for their performance. With this result, Zsófia also achieved her second qualifying score.
An International and National Dressage Competition, along with a Therapeutic Riding event, was held in Fót on the weekend of September 26, 2025. The Ópusztaszer Akhal Stud was represented by two riders, Regő Cseppentő with Ajtony and Zsófia Apáti with Zetár, both competing in the L7 program, stepping up into a higher category. 🎉 The warm-up took place in an indoor arena, from which riders reached the outdoor competition arena through a short passageway. Despite the windy weather — which made the tents around the arena flap vigorously — both horses stayed focused and calm throughout their performances. This level already included more advanced dressage elements (such as counter-canter and turns on the haunches). The pairs handled this progression remarkably well during their preparation and were able to show their best form in the arena. It was a challenging competition for both riders and horses, as the international field was very strong and the L7 test was a significant step up from previous levels. Nevertheless, both pairs achieved performances above 50%. Everyone evaluated the competition very positively and considered it a great experience overall.
